The property is ideally situated within the battlefields and has ample parking for large groups. The village is a step back in time; it is friendly, pretty and quiet.
The House sleeps 11 and has been decorated to a very high standard - it almost feels as if it is a family home. All the rooms are airy and welcoming. The showers and the bathroom are excellent, the dining room and sitting room are spacious and the kitchen has been equipped to a very high standard. There is a pleasant conservatory and outside there is a table and chairs with a large lawn where we spent happy evenings. The owners have exposed part of an old German bunker system under the house which gives a special feel to this already excellent place.
John and Claire, were very welcoming and generous. John is a keen historian of the Somme battlefields and gave us much useful information. Claire is an accomplished caterer who provided a very high calibre breakfast for us. John and Claire were very friendly and went out of their way to make sure that our booking and our stay passed without a hitch.
Because of the above I would advise early booking because I am sure that Guillemont Halt will become a firm favourite of Battlefield tour groups. On our next expedition to the Somme, Guillemont Halt will be top of our list for booking. Many thanks again, John & Claire”
Our stay at Guillemont Halt was what can only be described as a pure delight. The opportunity to actually stay in a place of such an important part of history and in such comfort cannot be matched.
A thoroughly pleasing and delightful experience, made even more so by the attention to detail to our comfort by our hosts.
